Reef Hotel

The site currently accommodates a two-level brick and iron hotel building, formally ‘Gordon’s Hotel’ now the ‘Reef Hotel’. The building is on the City of Bunbury Municipal Inventory, though the building is of low significance, with no conservation order in place. The endeavour is to provide a benchmark building that satisfies Council’s desire for an iconic ‘bookend’ development to the northern end of Victoria Street as a counter balance the Bunbury Tower to the south, that provides an improved level of amenity and services to the end user as well as the greater community. The site is relatively flat, and with elevation provides a 360-degree panoramic outlook to the ocean, the harbour, inlet and the CBD proper. The site is to accommodate a multi-storey mixed used development. Ground level of specialty retail, commercial and residential tower, all designed to meet the growing need for quality accommodation and superior amenity and service - a place to live, work and relax, all within walking distance of the City Centre. The Victoria Street elevation pays homage to the existing hotel by providing a pedestrian colonnade with an upper level verandah. To the north, an open sun court/alfresco space provides a natural extension to the public open space of Guppy Park opposite.
